so im starting to get a bit worried.. one of my cats hasnt really been eating lately, some days she will go for her wet food, and other days shes not interested. the snacks she used to LOVE (purebites dehydrated chicken) she turns her nose at. i dont really know what to do anymore.. she had been on raw, slowly she didnt want the raw anymore so i was mixing some grain free canned food along with it. she was vomiting yesterday, but nothing came up, i figured it was because i let my cats outside yesterday for a bit.. but she was vomiting again when i came home today. im thinking that since she isnt eating her food, she might be trying to find things around the house to eat when im not home.. causing her to puke. at least i really hope thats the case.
ive been working too much this week, but i have thursday off, im wondering if it warrants a vet visit, or if i should be trying a different food with her.. i dont want to put her on a kibble because my other cat will eat kibble until she pukes, and its just gross. im also really seeing the benefits to feeding raw to the one cat that is loving it (she started out not liking it, while the one that has been not eating was the one that initially LOVED the raw.)

UPDATE-------------------------------------------------------------------------

the vet appt was at 10:15am.. he took blood, gave her fluids, antibiotic, appetite stimulant and something to bring her fever down.. he did say she was a bit jaundice but between that and not eating could be from a list of factors. he said other than dehydrated and losing 2lbs since april, she looks ok, her stomach felt ok.. he couldnt see anything that could be the problem.. so now we wait for results. shes rolling around on the floor like her usual cute self and walking over to her food dish - but im not to attempt feeding until about 7pm
*fingers crossed*

Poor kitten. *snuggles*

Have you tried a new flavour. I know people say cats like the same food over and over again, but mine don't. They get bored with one flavour and will stop eating it and digg in again when I change say from fish to chicken. Same goes for their noms.

The other question would be: hairball?

Is she drinking alright? TBH if she is not eating normally again in the next two three days I would take her to the vet.

i did see her drinking a few times. so shes getting water.. i was thinking maybe hairball since nothing really comes out when she pukes.. or maybe constipation? its hard to tell on that front since i have another cat.. and im not home a lot lately due to work.. but she usually goes between chicken and fish, but shes NEVER had a problem in the last 2 years that ive had her with flavour.. like she always would chow down, she did have a tendency to like the chicken flavour over the fish, and i have been going back and forth with the food i had.. i might grab something else and see how that goes.. but i tried to play with her last night and she wasnt very playful. that worries me. shes always ready to play.

Poor kitten. Good luck with the new food.

If she is not eating at all, I am with the other comment i.e. vet asap.

I think a vet visit is needed right away. My cat stopped eating back in July. Come to find out he has Pancreatitis. I have been doing Subq fluids at home and he is on several medications for it. If she is not eating and is vomiting, she needs to see a vet.

If she goes too long not getting enough food, she might end with fatty liver.

I dont mean to scare ya, but I have come to learn that if a cat goes more than a day without food, it can be deadly.

thats what worries me. she always ends up eating at least a little bit in a day, but its half of what she used to eat.. shes never really eaten a whole lot at meal time.. but im also scared since she has no interest in playing. thats unusual for her.

When my kitty was dying of kidney failure, my vet told me she needed to be eating at least 5 ounces of canned food a day. If you can't say for certain that your cat is getting at least that much (or comparable amount for dry food), she needs to be seen right away. And with her lack of interest in playing, I'd get her seen ASAP.

I vote for Vet too. Better safe than sorry, and for a cat to be showing signs of illness means the cat's likely really ill.... they usually hide it.

But the question I have: Has it been unusually hot there?

no, it was pretty humid, but there have been worse days. i also have a/c. i know that sometimes pets can stop eating when the weather changes, and initially thats what i thought was happening which is why i didnt think it was serious.. but she was still eating, just not as much as usual.

I vote for vet now, too... My cat stopped eating & is recovering from Hepatic Lipidosis (fatty liver). It can happen quickly. If she will eat the kibble, give it to her! If a cat is eating crappy cat food, it's better than none. and you don't want fatty liver....! the treatment is FOOD, CALORIES, so if their liver is sick, they get nauseous & won't eat at all, so getting food into them becomes a serious issue. Has to be done via orally syringing it, or syringing it into a feeding tube. it has taken over my life.

lots of things can stop a cat from eating in the first place (stress, simple cold affecting sense of smell, pancreatis, lots of things) , so if you can catch that & cure it before hepatic lipidosis starts up, you win... In fact, if I knew what I know now? I'd syringe food into her immediately.

not full of urine, or poop?
she could be constipated. lots of kitties will avoid the box if it was painful on their last trip. my cat also vomited when she couldn't poop. Keep a close eye on her & if you feel it's time to go to the e-vet, go. Only you can see her, ya know? Not hiding is good, but then I don't know her habits.

Do you have a plastic syringe in the house? if so, mash some wet & get it into her. can you try finger feeding her? it can make all the difference. so hard to advise, because this could be anything. could even be her teeth.

fingers crossed. please update. I am thinking you are catching this in time. I have a multi-cat household & noticed too late.

thank you!!! she ate!!! i put out about 2tbsp of her wet food, and she ate about half of it in about 4-5 different sittings.. not all at once.. so thats a good sign, shes also coming over to me if i call her, but she keeps hiding under the couch.

it IS a good sign! Hiding MIGHT be because she hated going to the vet & got stressed, but it can also mean that she's ill. Just make sure that she's getting enough food into her while you wait for results. if she goes off the food again, wrap her butt up like a burrito in a towel & syringe it into her! Wellness chicken is extremely easy to syringe feed... Mash with potato masher & it draw into the syringe w/ ease... As someone mentioned, a rough guide is that she needs to get a 5oz can into her a day. I'd be aiming for 3/4 of a can, no less! How much does she weigh?
